A massive winter storm has Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas in its icy grip, and the snow just keeps on falling! This historic storm, which began on Sunday, has already blanketed roads and driveways with several inches of snow, and it's not showing any signs of letting up just yet.
The National Weather Service and the KDKA Weather Team are predicting a significant snowfall across the region, with some areas expected to receive over a foot of snow! But here's where it gets controversial: while most of Pittsburgh is predicted to see around 10 inches, certain counties are in for a real winter wonderland experience, with up to 16 inches of snow on the way.
Let's take a look at the latest snow totals as of Sunday evening:
Allegheny County:
- Ross Township: 12 inches as of 3:15 p.m.
- Pittsburgh: 10.2 inches as of 5 p.m.
Armstrong County:
- Kittanning: 12 inches as of 1:28 p.m.
Beaver County:
- Midland: 15 inches as of 12:38 p.m.
Butler County:

Fayette County:

Washington County:

Westmoreland County:

These numbers are expected to rise as the storm continues through Sunday night and into Monday morning. So, if you're in one of these areas, you might want to break out the snow shovels and get ready for some serious winter fun (or work)!
And this is the part most people miss: while we're all focused on the snow totals, it's important to remember the potential hazards and disruptions this storm can cause. Stay safe, and keep an eye on the latest updates from the KDKA Weather Team for more information.
