Daniel Dubois' Comeback: A Look at His Next Potential Fights and Reunion with Don Charles (2026)

The boxing world is buzzing with excitement as Daniel Dubois seems poised to make a significant comeback. Having reconciled with his former trainer, Don Charles, he is now open to facing off against Agit Kabayel in Germany. However, it looks like Zhilei Zhang is the frontrunner to be his next opponent.

As Dubois, who boasts an impressive record of 22 wins, 3 losses, and 21 knockouts, gears up for this new chapter in his career, his manager Sam Jones is diligently working behind the scenes to facilitate the next steps. Dubois is not just a formidable fighter; he is recognized as one of the hardest hitters in the heavyweight division today.

After a brief stint training with Tony Sims, Dubois has decided to return to his roots with Charles, who felt the sting of their split following Dubois's rematch loss to Oleksandr Usyk last July. This reunion signals a fresh start for Dubois as he seeks to regain his status in the boxing hierarchy.

"We have been in discussions about making a fight between Zhilei Zhang and Daniel Dubois happen, which Frank Warren has also emphasized, so we are actively pursuing that opportunity," stated Jones. "Daniel is back in the gym, fully prepared, and eager to get back into the ring. He’s ready to fight right now."

There’s a strong possibility that the fight could take place in London come April, although Jones mentions they need to confer with Frank Warren again this week to finalize details.

Meanwhile, it appears that Agit Kabayel, currently holding the WBC interim heavyweight title, is being considered for another bout in Germany against a British contender. When asked if Dubois would be interested in taking on Kabayel, Jones responded, "While nothing has been officially offered yet, Daniel is absolutely keen on fighting Kabayel. He would relish the chance to face him in Germany, since we both know that a matchup between Daniel Dubois and Kabayel is unlikely to go the distance. I envision that fight ending within six to eight rounds."

Moreover, Dubois has expressed interest in challenging Fabio Wardley, the reigning WBO heavyweight champion, although Jones acknowledged that Wardley holds the power to decide who he fights next. "Daniel would jump at the chance to face Fabio Wardley or Agit Kabayel, and if the opportunity to fight Zhilei Zhang arises, just look at Daniel's track record. It's one of the most impressive out there—he's willing to take on anyone."

It's worth noting that Dubois has not stepped into the boxing ring since his defeat by Usyk at Wembley Stadium last year, making this upcoming fight even more anticipated.
