As an LSU dad, I've had a wild ride with my son Quinn's college journey. It all started with a dream of him wearing the coveted Texas A&M ring, but fate had other plans. Quinn's love for Aggies began early, fueled by his idolization of Johnny Manziel and his first college football game against South Carolina State. However, his fandom took a turn when he was reprimanded for taunting his teacher, an Alabama grad. Over the years, Quinn's interests shifted, and he became a basketball ball boy for Texas A&M. Yet, his true passion lay elsewhere. When it came time to choose a college, Quinn defied my advice and opted for Mississippi State, despite my warnings about the SEC's unpredictability. But his heart belonged to LSU, and he joined a fraternity, much to my dismay. Despite our differences, I found common ground with the frat boys, especially during the LSU-A&M football game. Their trash-talking and celebration of LSU's SEC West win were entertaining, even if they underestimated A&M's talent. The following year, I visited the frat house before the A&M-LSU game, and my influence grew. I became a favorite among the frat boys and their parents, despite my Texas roots. The baseball rivalry between A&M and LSU only added fuel to the fire, with Quinn expressing his hatred for Brian Kelly. Yet, I found humor in his words and took pride in his academic achievements. As Quinn graduates with a finance degree, I reflect on his journey. While I would have preferred him to attend A&M, I'm incredibly proud of his accomplishments. I'll wear my LSU dad shirt with pride, knowing that my son has carved his own path and achieved something remarkable.
